Goodbye Clementine Small

Our hearts a broken. We had to say goodbye to Clementine Small on Saturday. I truly still feel like I am in a bit of shock. I just did not expect it would end this way, at this time. We loved her SO so much. . .and just cannot believe she is no longer here. Such a vibrant, adorable, silly, bossy presence, right up until the end. Clementine

This is a Tribute & Memory Album of Clementine Small, her first and true love, Alexander Small (white), her second love, Edwinna Jones (black), her late-in-life love, Dopey (brown). . .and their friend, L’il T (gray).

Clementine Small was a sweet, fierce, silly little soul who was dumped at the shelter in early 2007 with a nasty case of coccidia, and who went to live with our VP, Susan Shum, for the better part of a year. She came to our home in January of 2008 as a potential wife for Alexander Small, and it was pretty much love at first sight. He just needed a little time to get used to the CRAZY that was Clementine Small.

I can still see him sitting in the middle of that large double pen, and her running Bunny 500s around and around. The look on his face! I am pretty sure he thought she was nuts, but he loved her anyway, and she loved him. The games of tag they would play almost every day! He was a gentle soul and as they chased each other around and around and switched directions.  She would often stop and wait for him to catch up, they’d share a kiss, and on would go the game of tag.

We had to say goodbye to Smally in 2016 (horrible 2016!), and Clementine was just bereft. . .her constant companion and true love was gone. At that point we decided to try bonding her with Edwinna Jones, who had very recently lost her husbun, Davey Jones. Let me tell you, these were tiny but feisty girly buns and at a younger age, it never would have happened. But they both wanted somebun to love and their bond was immediate and oh-so sweet, filled with love and cuddles (and Edwinna bossing her around, and Clementine allowing it ) .

Sadly, they only had each other for a few months (but months full of cuteness and cuddles and love) before Edwinna also had to leave for the Bridge.

Then came Dopey, The One dollar Rabbit. He had been living with our VP, but had become single and lonely not too long ago. We introduced them and within a day they were happily living together. They were so cute together (Dopey is about 8 pounds and 10 years old (at least), and she was less than 2 pounds). They even spent time with L’il T after he lost his Pansy bunny! Until Saturday, when Clementine’s time came.

We are absolutely devastated to lose our little Clementiny. . .the Incredible Hiney (a name gained because when Daisy Ducktoes came to visit, Clementine would get annoyed, stick her hiney in the air and get all puffed up. SO funny!).

Clementine Small was family. . . as all the rescues are. She was with us for over 10 years (she was 12-13 years old). She was our companion. We love her so much and miss her so much already (it has been three days).  I can’t believe I will never hold her again and kiss her little head.   She was such a tough little bunny, always happy, always busy, bossy, affectionate to her bunny friends and us. We can’t believe she is gone.

Binky Free, Clementiny. Cuddle with your Smally Ball and Edwinna. And wait for us. . .we’ll all be together again someday. You are loved and you are missed.
