Update on Fencicle the Intrepidly Peckish
Update On Bunny From Kings County Animal Services.
Remember the bunny with the huge face abscess who came to Zooh Corner from Kings County Animal Services (fabulous humans!) earlier this month? She was emaciated, filthy, and had a huge abscess obstructing her ability to eat and breathe. Poor girl was quite a mess.
We are happy to update that after a week at the clinic she is now at Zooh Corner and she is MUCH better! Her abscess is about 95% gone, she is gaining weight, has been vaccinated – and because there was concern that she was starting to have reproductive-related health issues, she has already been spayed. She was healing well from her spay but today has spiked a bit of infection at the suture line. We have already started her on an additional antibiotic for that and she will see Dr Kanfer, at Exotic Animal Veterinary Center, tomorrow.
Fen will also need another set of full body radiographs for assessment purposes. She has some very slight back end mobility issues and we had already noted a bit of arthritis in her lower spine. Now that she is feeling better and more relaxed we can get another full set of radiographs and look at her whole musculoskeletal system. She is a Flemish Giant and they are very prone to having joint issues, arthritis, etc, and we want to be sure to stay ahead of any issues as much as we can. Her diet and supplement program will address this with some preventative supplements. Radiography will help us decide which supplements to give, if any, in addition to Myristol pellets.
Over all she is doing VERY well. She is happy, active, and eating like a horse. And she LOVES her Oxbow Barley Biscuits!
Oh, and her name is 🏴☠️ Fencicle The Intrepidly Peckish 🏴☠️ AKA “Fen.” And did I mention she loves Oxbow Barley Biscuits?!
Her bills were large and we could really use some help. A donation of any size makes all the difference. Please? And thank you! ❤️
