  • Gable’s Neuter

005Gable went to Exotic Animal Care Center yesterday for his neuter. Check his album for a few pictures of him getting his exam. Notice the “ear looker-inner,” the “mouth looker-inner ” (and yes those are technical terms!). He checked out 100% a-ok and is super cute.

We’re glad to report that all went well, and he’s recovering nicely.

  • Help Save Satchmo’s Leg

    012Please help save Satchmo‘s leg!

Satchmo is having *another* surgery today on his right front paw/ankle (see radiographs and estimate in this album) in an effort to rid him of persistent infection and stave off full amputation. This is his sixth surgical procedure.
Satchmo is almost 10 years old and somewhat arthritic. He would not handle amputation well.

We have paid $300 so far, which is most of the bank account (save for money for hay tomorrow!) and as you can see, we need to raise more funds quickly.

Please donate what you can! ALL amounts help us meet our goals. And please share this that others might also help!

  • Pets Helping Pets Campaign

rp_IMG_5016-300x225.jpgAhoy there, mateys! The Dread Pirate Wesley Wigglebottom, a rescued ‘meat” baby, pictured here with his brothers, Alvin, V.G.B. and Tonka, request a parlay.

“Pets Helping Pets” is a simple challenge that will give out over $1000 worth of plunder to various nominated rescue groups. Arrrrrr!!!

The goal is to get more *new* signatures on the petition asking Whole Foods to stop selling rabbit meat and we need your support!

Every new person who signs the petition can list their favorite rabbit rescue. The rescue with the most new signers will receive over $300 worth of rabbit related treasure! That be a mighty good plunder!

Our goal is to reach 50k signatures over the next eight weeks! We can do this—together. For the bunnies!

Please check it out; it is super easy to do.

More details here! Please share to your Facebook walls and via email….to groups, on Twitter—anywhere you can! Share it often, and encourage your friends to share!

  • Buon San Valentino!

Luigi-valentinesLuigi the Lemon would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Luigi is just one of our many Sanctuary bunnies who have found refuge at Zooh Corner, and has been living a pampered life full of cheek rubs and cuddles.

From everyone here at Zooh Corner, we hope you take the time to reflect on everything you love.

  • Blossom’s Recovery

Here’s Blossom 011 during one of her twice-daily foot soaks. Isn’t she cute? Such a brave and affectionate little soul.

Poor little Blossom has a serious UTI (urinary tract infection), urine scald, infected hock sores, an injury on her front left paw and dental issues. She is also seriously underweight and has an injury on her lip. (I think the injury on her lip and the broken tooth might possibly be from fighting with another bunny through cage wire.)

Blossom is already on antibiotics and getting her feet soaked twice a day. She just recently saw Dr. Kanfer of Exotic Animal Care Center, and will continue to get the best care we can offer

Poor baby has had a horrible life, but Zooh Corner aims to change that

  • Summer in February?

017Did you know that February is Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month?  Since 2011, The House Rabbit Society has been celebrating February as a month to spread awareness and encourage rescued rabbit adoption.

This beautiful little lady is our Summer Bunny – just one of many adoptable rabbits at Zooh Corner. She is spayed and ready for her very own forever family! She likes toys and she likes snuggling, and she likes hop in about a bunny yard getting into everybody’s business. She is a little bit on the shy side but warms right up if you hold her and kiss her. She also loves it when you just sit with her and she can crawl on your lap. I’m sure she would like a bunny friend of her own as well!

Contact us if you are interested in adopting this lovely lady! Her face and toes make me go squee. We love this cutie pie and so will you!

  • Blossom – Rescued Feb 9, 2015

001Meet Blossom, rescued from the OC Shelter.

She is SAFE and she is beautiful, and according to her foster mum, she is sweet!

This poor little girl has so many problems. We cannot imagine what her previous life must have been. Just heartbreaking.

Blossom has severe hock sores, urine scald, urinary tract infection (UTI), dental issues—and she is emaciated.

But we already adore her and she truly will blossom with love and care.

Thank you to Kimberly Butler for stepping up and offering to foster her for Zooh Corner! ♥

This baby is going to require significant medical care. Your donations are always appreciated.

  • BUAV Campaign to End All Animal Experiments

BUAVThe British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) has reported on the acceptance by regulators for alternatives to animal testing.  From their article:

The BUAV science team has been working very hard to gain regulatory acceptance for these alternatives over the past few years by providing feedback on these guidelines as part of our international efforts with the ECEAE and ICAPO. We were involved in the expert working group at the OECD and we are pleased to report that our comments helped improved the final versions of the guidelines.

We stand against animal testing, and encourage you to go cruelty-free by shopping for products that are certified not tested on animals.  The Leaping Bunny Program provides great information to help get started.
