Call to Review Pet Rabbit Protection in UK

United Kingdom animal welfare scientist James Oxley is arguing that pet rabbits need better legal protection.  He is calling on a review of the 2006 Animal Welfare Act, where he calls for specifics in factors such as minimum hutch sizes and whether rabbits be kept in pairs. Mr Oxley studies rabbit owners’ interactions with their pets, and suggests that the review should compare how other European Union countries handle protection of animals.
