RHDV2 Vaccine Update from Dr Kanfer
A letter from Dr Sari Kanfer,
Exotic Animal Veterinary Center
Pasadena, California
We have officially ordered the RHDV2 vaccine. It will be Eravac and we expect to get it in about 4 weeks. Because the virus has just been identified in Palm Springs, numerous vets throughout the state are now placing their vaccine orders. You can contact your regular rabbit vet to see if they are ordering, and you can get on their waiting list.
We are planning out the logistics of vaccinating so many rabbits. As soon as we figure it out we will contact the people on our wait list. Because the vaccine is not licensed for use in the US and it is only allowed to be imported with special permission, the vaccine must be administered by a veterinarian, and thus the rabbits will need to be examined. We do not yet know the cost of the vaccine nor the cost for the necessary exam.
For the people that have previously emailed you should have received a response and we will keep you posted. If you have emailed us to reserve vaccines but change your mind please do email us ASAP so that we can offer the vaccines to someone else. We currently have a long list of people reserving the vaccine for their rabbits, so please do not email us to get on the wait list.
Thank you.
Sari Kanfer, DVM
