Lilly’s Legacy Rabbit Rescue
LILLY’S LEGACY is one of Zooh Corner’s favorite rescues. We like to think of them as our sister rescue. Like us, they rescue the “special” bunnies – those with extensive medical needs or disabilities, who have been neglected and abandoned by humans when they most need them. Kim Butler heads up Lilly’s Legacy. Here’s what she has to say:
“The special needs rabbits who have been discarded are the ones who speak to our hearts. We rescue rabbits who have been dumped and living on the streets, or in parks. The rabbits have normally been picked up by Animal Control. Sadly, the animal shelters are ill equipped to deal with sick or injured rabbits. As a result, these rabbits are immediately scheduled for euthanasia. We are literally their last hope of survival.
Each rabbit receives emergency medical care upon the day of rescue and receives any surgery, medication, physical therapy, or 24 hour care that they may need. No rabbit is ever turned away because of their extensive injury/illness. If they are capable of having a pain free quality life, they will get it with us.”
