Misunderstood Stuart has a Home

Misunderstood StuartYesterday, love won. A bit of a read, I suppose, but worth it.

Misunderstood Stuart has quite the story. Considered an aggressive little bunny, which he sure can be, he was at risk of being euthanized—but a very determined and loving foster human, named Kat, was not about to let that happen. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Kat was going to be unable to continue fostering Stuart for much longer, which would have put him at risk of euthanasia. She loved Stuart and was not about to let that happen, so she reached out to as many people as she could. One of those people was Dr. Sari Kanfer, who contacted me and told me his story. There was no way this I was going to let this tiny, blue-eyed white hellion guy die just because humans had already betrayed him once, so I got in touch with Kat (without her he would not be here at all) – and this is where that particular part of Stuart’s story begins.

I found out from Kat that her living circumstances were going to change shortly and she would have to give the bunny back to the rescue, and they felt that they had no other option than to euthanize him because he was very aggressive, not happy around other bunnies, and not happy living at their facility.

Nope. Nope. And NOPE. Not going to happen. We would have taken him here if we had space for him to have a room of his own, without any other bunnies in, but that was not the case, so I reached out to many people with his story. One of those people the amazing gentleman seen here, Jon Morin. Jon is a volunteer with Rabbit Haven, in Gig Harbor WA, and very experienced dealing with aggressive bunnies. He said he would be happy to take Stuart into his little family and give him a forever home, we just needed to find a way to get him there. Los Angeles to Washington. OK.

And so we did! I spoke to Dr. Kanfer and asked if she would be willing to board him there until we were able to make arrangements to get him to Jon, that Zooh Corner would cover costs, and I would bring him toys and visit with him/work with him, and not only did she say yes, she said it would be free of charge, except for Sundays (when they would have to pay extra for somebody to come in and care for him on a day where they were closed). How generous an amazing is that?! 💜 289429912_10227531328814032_4403700082625806906_n

I got to work on making arrangements to get him to Jon. Kat contacted a rescue transport, a lovely human named Jasmine offered to be the courier if we needed to fly him up there, and a very generous bunny lover from Canada, named Sean, offered to help pay for the flight. So many amazing people pulling together to save the life of one little white bunny. In the end, it seemed the easiest way to get him to Jon, was for Jon to come and get him. So he made the arrangements, paid $1300 for his flight—and that doesn’t include hotel or rental car 😳😳 —and he came down to get Stuart yesterday.

This little guy is not generally fond of men, or anyone for that matter (though he was warming up to me just sitting in his pen), but as you can see, although it is with some skepticism, he was interested in Jon pretty much immediately. Of course it’s going to take some time and patience, but they were already off to a pretty amazing start. And that was before they had even left the clinic.

Misunderstood Stuart and Jon arrived home in the wee hours of this morning.
Stuart is HOME. Love won. 🧡💚💙🖤💜💗💛
