Picasso Update

10153863_10203438497588309_1902874482_nPICASSO went in for his check-up Tuesday, with Dr Stephanie Lamb, at Exotic Animal Care Center.

We found that he definitely has issues with his incisors (click through pics to see). He also has a good amount of arthritis and some muscle wasting, not at all shocking for a bunny who has spent three years stuck in a dog crate (carrier). He also has mites (again, not shocking) and some moderate sores on his hocks, as well as mild inflammation/infection in both eyes, very likely due to being trapped in that dirty and poorly ventilated crate (urine ammonia).

He had X-rays, which showed us that his heart, lungs, liver and kidneys look normal, but he has a good amount of arthritis in his back and hips. His blood work also appears normal.

He is on meds for general pain and inflammation, as well as eye meds and Revolution (three treatments, two weeks apart) for mites.

At this point his incisors do not seem to be growing OR bothering him, but we are keeping him on observation for the next few days/weeks to see what problems, if any, they might be causing.

Not bad considering he is old and was stuffed in a dog carrier and seriously neglected for the last three years! But as mentioned, he IS old, so there will no doubt be issues forthcoming. He could use a monthly sponsor!

Please take a look at this photo album to read Picasso’s sad story.

On a personal note, I got to cuddle and kiss him and we can’t wait until he comes to live at Zooh Corner, in mid-April.

WE REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT! Today’s bill was $317 (see photo in this album) and our balance is over 6K – and Picasso will need a follow-up. And don’t forget, we have many elderly Sanctuary Rabbits who need ongoing care (think, Otho, Poppie, Chocy, Victoria, Buttons, et al).

THEY ALL deserve every moment of love and care we can give them, and by WE, I mean you too. We are ALL Zooh Corner Rabbit Rescue.
